3by Lacrosse

3by lacrosse is fast paced, free flowing game which heavily emphasizes skill and quick decision making under pressure. It’s a finesse and skill game, and not a strength and power game.

It is played on a modified field with smaller goals and tennis balls (similar to half-court basketball). Teams are made up of 3-4 players. Three players on the field at one time (4th player is optional sub), so grab your friends, grab your sticks and let’s play!

 

Rules of 3by Lacrosse

• Starting possession will be granted to one of the teams by decision via coin toss.

• The ball changes possession after every goal. The new offensive team must “clear” (carry or pass) the ball to the Checkpoint cone. 

• Players must pass the ball in to start the offensive possession.

• On offense, you must place your shot, you cannot wind up and whip the ball.

• On defense, one player can jump in the goal to serve as goalie. The goalie may use their hand to gain possession of the ball within a reasonable distance from the goal. 

• To convert from defense to offense, a team acquire possession of the ball and take it to the Checkpoint cone.

• No checking is allowed.

• No equipment needed.

 

Other 3by rules

• No hard shots

• No big wind up/follow thru

• No shoving on defense

• No bull dodging on offense

• Equal pressure ok, no arm extension

• No aggressive stick checking

   Note: Violation of these rules will result in a turnover of possession.

 

Games

• Games will start and end on a central horn.

• Each game will consist of two 10-minute halves with a 2-minute half time.

• There will be a running clock, no timeouts.

• Players will sub on dead ball.

 

Teams

• Each team is made up of 3-4 players.

• During the registration process, we will ask for your team’s name and for each player’s name. Have some fun with this and make up a theme and come as group (matching t-shirts and all). 

• You may also sign up as a free agent and placed on a team.

• Stick

• Optional Girls: Goggles, Mouth guard

• Optional Boys: Helmet, Mouth guard

 

Divisions: 

• 3/4 co-ed

• 5/6 co-ed

• 7/8 co-ed

• High School co-ed

• All Adult co-ed

Note:

• Each team will be guaranteed at least three games.

• Divisions may be adjusted based on registration.
